PRESS RELEASE - Hamburg Tradition Company Fights against Child Poverty

Hamburg, November 22, 2023 - It is a double premiere - both for the privately-owned, Hanseatic life science service company WELDING GmbH & Co. KG and for the Harburg location of the Arche Kinderstiftung. Through a wish tree, the Christmas wishes of 30 Harburg adolescents between the ages of 12 and 15 will be fulfilled this year.

"Unfortunately, not all children are lucky enough to receive gifts at Christmas - especially when the monthly budget of a family is barely enough for basic living expenses," says Thomas Bahnsen, Managing Director of the WELDING Group. The charity tree campaign aims to provide assistance through the willingness to donate from his team. According to the latest statistics from the German Children's Fund, on average every fifth child in Germany is affected by poverty. "As a company that is conscious of its traditions and values, we cannot remain indifferent to this issue - child poverty is an enormous task that can only be overcome through the collaboration of society as a whole," adds Lars Hallmayer, member of the management board of the WELDING Group.

The nationwide active foundation "Die Arche Kinderstiftung" relies on this kind of social commitment. "We are committed to improving the living conditions of disadvantaged children and families in Germany. We support children and adolescents in discovering their potentials, promote their talents, and empower them to live independent lives," explains Angela Krull, director of the Hamburg-Harburg location of Arche.

"We currently see particularly high needs among our adolescents. Many of them are in very complex life situations and challenging conditions, in addition to frequently precarious family and financial circumstances. Therefore, we are very pleased with WELDING's commitment to providing our young people with a gift wish," says Krull.
